Bathroom graffiti prompts evacuation of Edcouch-Elsa High School

Authorities temporarily evacuated Edcouch-Elsa High School after a student discovered bathroom graffiti containing a bomb threat.
Firefighters and police were called to the high school shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Edcouch Police Chief Eloy Cardenas told Action 4 News it started when a male student went to use the boys bathroom saw graffiti on the wall.
Chief Cardenas said the graffiti said there was a bomb in the school propmting an evacuation.
Authorities cleared the building for a safe return just around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The incident comes as students were reportedly taking mid-term exams.
Chief Cardenas said the incident remains under investigation as a possible criminal matter.
"This is something very serious because it caused a disruption to the school," Cardenas said.
Witnesses at the scene told Action 4 News that another bomb threat had taken place earlier in the day but the incident could not be confirmed.
Edcouch-Elsa ISD Superintendent Frank Perez did not immediately return calls for comment.
