Weslaco police are investigating a burglary case trying to link the evidence to the suspects that led them on a chase Monday morning.
Officers received an anonymous tip around 8 a.m. Monday morning that two men had broken into their neighbor's home and were stealing items from the home.
When police arrived to the house on Los Arcos Circle, the suspects fled in a white Lincoln Town Car.
An officer pursued the vehicle, but it got away.
Shortly thereafter, the officer then found the car abandoned in a ditch with stolen items inside, including a 50-inch TV.
Witnesses near the crash site led police to a home where they say the suspects fled.
A man inside the home was detained by police but the patrol officer could not identify the man as driver of the vehicle.
But police are hopeful they will be able to find a link.
"At some point when these guys broke into the house, and it's very common, they cut themselves on glass, or on a sharp object and leave physical evidence at the scene, so our investigators job is to go out and collect as much evidence that they can,” Weslaco police officer J.P. Rodriguez said.
No charges will be filed as of now, pending the forensic evidence.
