A Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputy is hospitalized being hit by another driver.

It happened around 6:30 Monday evening near the intersection of FM 1423 and Curry Road in Donna.

Investigators say the driver of a passenger van crossed the center line and hit the deputy's patrol vehicle head on.

The deputy and the driver of the van were both taken to Rio Regional Hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
