Walmart shoplifters caught in the act, arrested

A string of shoplifting at the Wal-Mart on Business 77 in San Benito ended with two suspects facing theft charges. 

On Wednesday, San Benito picked up Jose Angel Moreno. 26, at the Cameron County Adult Probation Office. 

Back on October 18, store employees said they attempted to stop Moreno, who fled with over $230 worth of merchandise. 

They identified him via surveillance video. 

Officer took Moreno into custody, arraigned him, and issued him a $9,000 bond.

In a separate incident on Wednesday evening, police arrived at the Wal-Mart store where they found Leeann Michelle Cano, 28, in the custody of store employees. 

They had stopped her after she allegedly tried to leave the store with close to $400 of merchandise. 

Officers arrested her and held under a $5,000 bond.

Moreno and Cano face theft charges.
