A federal judge has sentenced a Progreso man to six years in prison for traveling to Mexico to have sex with a teenage girl.
Carmen Alonzo appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Randy Crane in McAllen on Thursday morning.
U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested the former Progreso International Bridge toll booth worker back in August 2011.
The 58-year-old man pleaded guilty back in February to traveling to Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas to have sex with a 14-year-old.
Judge Crane sentenced Alonzo to six years in federal prison as well as having to register as a sex offender upon his release.
