Elsa Police are looking for the driver of an older model Oldsmobile that led several officers on a chase early Saturday morning, and caused one of the officers to crash into a pole.

According to police, the chase started at about 1 a.m. when an officer attempted a traffic stop on Ciro Caceres Avenue, in front of Truan Junior High School.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, with Oklahoma license plates, sped off past FM 88.

Police said the police officer involved in the pursuit was unable to make a turn and crashed into a pole on the corner of Ciro Caceres and Lito Rosas Street.

Three other police units responded to the chase, which continued southbound on FM 88.

Officers said the driver of the Oldsmobile turned east on Mile 16 North Road.

The police units lost the car due to poor road conditions, they said.

The officer in the wrecked unit was not injured in the crash, though the unit did sustain some damage.

Anyone with information on the driver of the Oldsmobile canĀ  call Elsa Police at (956) 262-4721.
