Some 30 illegal immigrants are facing deportation after being detained in a farm field just west of the Pharr International Bridge.
It all happened on Military Highway between Cage Boulevard and South Jackson Road after 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Border Patrol officials told Action 4 News that agents detained some 30 illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America.
Agents loaded the immigrants into a van while motorists passed by.
It's not clear why the immigrants chose to cross the border in an area adjacent to a high-security faciity.
Border Patrol officials said theĀ area known for smuggling and is frequently patrolled.
Action 4 News will provide more information as they become available.
