Heavy rain, hail and wind damage forced the City of McAllen to call in work crews overnight.

The request was made late Thursday evening following severe weather that rolled across most parts of Hidalgo County.

Any city employees with Traffic, Public Works, Engineering and Parks & Recreation were urged to report to work at the Public Works Department at Bentsen and Nolana, according to Assistant City Manager, Pilar Rodriguez.

Workers will help clear any downed power lines and other road hazards for motorists.
