Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found north of Alamo both shot and beaten.

It all happened on Sunday night off Verbena Steet, which is near the intersection of Iowa and Tower Roads.

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputies told Action 4 News that the man was shot in the head and beaten.

The man’s name is not being released but an autopsy has been ordered to learn more about this death.

Investigators said the man’s death appears to be gang-related but they are not making a final ruling yet.
