FBI agents arrested 51-year-old Alicia Vasquez under the authority of a three-count federal indictment on Friday morning.

The San Juan woman is the owner of David’s Star Loving Vision Resource Center.

Officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Vasquez is accused of soliciting and receiving kickbacks to make Medicare and Medicaid patient referrals.

Vasquez allegedly referred patients to different durable medical equipment (DME) companies, physicians and home healthcare agencies in both Hidalgo and Cameron Counties.

Prosecutors allege that the San Juan woman made about $70,000 dollars in kickbacks between September 2009 and April 2011.

The indictment lists states at that one of Vasquez's relatives and a DME company in Weslaco were accomplices but did not identify them by their names.
