Authorities are investigating an incident where an elementary school student allegedly took a BB gun to campus.

Mission Consolidated Independent School District officials told Action 4 News that it all happened at Leal Elementary School on Wednesday.

According to reports, the student brought the gun to school to show another student.

School officials didn’t learn about the incident until Thursday afternoon.

Administrators are now investigating the incident to see if disciplinary action will be taken.

Mission CISD officials used an automated telephone notification system and sent out a letter to parents on Friday.

The incident follows days after Brownsville police shot and killed a middle school student who charged at officers with a pellet gun.
