Police Chief Joe Rodriguez was placed on administrative leave with pay on Tuesday evening.

The action against him directly follows an exclusive Action 4 News investigation into texted pornography pictures.

Cameron County Constable Robert Lopez told Action 4 News on Monday that he received five sexually explicit photos from the chief on his Precinct 4 county issued cell phone.

The cell smut was described as fetish transgender female pornography.

There were five pictures sent in all.

Constable Lopez said he believed that Chief Rodriguez texted them to him in an attempt to frame him.

The two are supposed to be running against each other for the constable position in 2012.

Rodriguez denied the allegations but did admit that he sent the porn from his personal cell phone to Constable Lopez by “accident.”

He said they were meant to be texted to a cousin.

Primera’s city manager said the chief will remain off the job with pay until commissioners decide their next course of action.
