An elderly woman is dead after drowning in a swimming pool in Laguna Vista.

It all happened at a condominium complex next to the South Padre Island Golf Course around 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Authorities identified the woman as 88-year-old Emme Clark Kothis.

Investigators said Kothis lived in the condominium complex with her son.

Kothis allegedly decided to go out for walk but after about a block and a half, she decided to get into the swimming pool.

Don’t know what happened next but the drowning has been ruled accidental.

Laguna Vista police reported finding her personal belongings next to the pool.

Cameron County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Bennie Ochoa was called to the scene.

An autopsy has been ordered.
