Five gunmen are dead following a deadly clash with Mexican soldiers south of the border in Valle Hermoso.

Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) officials reported it happened just outside Valle Hermoso on Tuesday.

SEDENA officials reported that solders were on patrol when they came under fire by a group of armed men.

Soldiers reportedly returned fire and killed five gunmen during the battle.

Authorities seized four assault rifles, ammunition and a vehicle.

The identities of the five gunmen has not been released but the case remains under investigaiton.
