A dry front is headed for the Valley come Monday morning.
The front will bring gusty north winds, extremely low humidity and continued hot temperatures through Monday afternoon.
North winds surging over 25mph and gusting over 40mph will combine with rising temperatures and low humidity causing for rapid to explosive wildfire growth.
The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a "Red Flag" Warning for Brooks, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Starr, and Zapata counties from 10am until 6pm Monday.
A "Fire Weather" Watch has been issued for coastal Cameron, Coastal Willacy, Inland Cameron, Inland Willacy, and Kenedy counties from 10am until 6pm Monday.
Once the cold front moves through during the late morning hours, relative humidity values will drop less than 10 percent for the Upper Valley.
Parts of Hidalgo county will see between 10 to 20 percent relative humidity values, while the Lower Valley will experience 20 to 25 percent relative humidity values
The combination of low humidity and gusty winds will aggravate
highly cured fine fuels such as grasses and scrub.
The region is now in an extreme drought, exacerbating the situation.
Burn bans remain in effect for the Rio Grande Valley.
