Authorities are investigating the death of an 18-month-old boy who died after being run over by his mother in their home's driveway.

The McAllen Monitor reported it all happened at a home off 11120 North Bentsen Palm Drive around 11:43 a.m. Monday.

Sheriff Lupe Treviño told the Monitor that the boy was supposed be watched by his grandmother but she lwent in the backyard leaving him alone.

The Monitor reported that crime scene investigators were still at the home as of Monday afternoon.

The McAllen-based newspaper reported that the boy's mother is not facing any criminal charges at this time.
