A house fire left an Edinburg family without a home on Friday evening.
Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snyder told Action 4 News they responded to a call about a structure fire near Celebrity and Terry Streets at about 5:30 in the evening.
By the time they responded and put out the fire, Snyder said the small, one bedroom home was completely engulfed by the flames.
"It's a total loss," he said.
The Hidalgo County Fire Marshall is now investigating the cause, but Snyder said that the family was using a single extension chord to power their home.
"A phone charger that was connected to the extension chord we think was the issue," he said.
None of the two adults and four children living inside the home were injured in the fire.
"I asked if they had a place to spend the night and they said yes," Snyder added, saying that the family is now staying with relatives next door.
Action 4 News will have more details tonight at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
