Food 4 Thought - Weslaco Eatery Socked with Shocking # of Demerits
Posted: 02.03.2011 at 12:17 AM

A repeat low performer restaurant in Weslaco has scored the most demerits this year on Food 4 Thought--56!

Ay Jalisco on 1600 North Westgate Drive was shut down for some 36 hours, according to the city’s chief health inspector.

The closure followed a discovery by kitchen cops of 2 days worth of food that was ordered destroyed on the spot.

The inspector said all of it was found to be sitting at room temperature for an unknown amount of time and unlabeled as required by health rules.

But the mid-Valley eatery is only part of the dirty story this week.

Roaches and spider webs popped up in another restaurant’s kitchen.

And a popular Chinese food restaurant in McAllen was ticketed for breaking the law.
