Mexican officials searching the Gulf of Mexico a weather-related accident leaves two fishermen dead and two more missing.

The Hoy Tamaulipas newspaper reports that the accident took place in the Mexican side of the Laguna Madre near Matamoros.

Tamaulipas State Police are blaming a recent cold front for the accident.

Hoy Tamaulipas reported that the four fishermen were out in the water when tall waves caused by strong winds from a recent cold front knocked them over.

Two bodies already washed up on shore near the coastal community of Las Higuerillas.

Authorities say the other two fisherman remain missing.

The fatal fishing accident is just the latest in a series of fatal boating accidents in Mexican waters.

Three bodies have washed up on the American side of the border on South Padre Island last week.

Two of those bodies have been identified while authorities are working to learn the identity of the third body.
