Incumbent Carlos Cascos is expected to be sworn in as Cameron County Judge during a Monday evening ceremony.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Dancy Building of East Monroe Street and East 11th Street in downtown Brownsville.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) is expected to administer the oath of office to Cascos.

Cascos, who is also a Republican, won re-election in a controversial race where the results were contested.

Election officials determined that Cascos beat Democratic Party challenger John Wood during a recount.
