Authorities have shut down FM 493 north of the rural Hidalgo County community of La Blanca following a major auto accident.

Details about the accident were not immediately available but Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials say the roadway is closed.

TxDOT officials reported that FM 493 bewtweem Mile 20 to FM 2812 will remain closed while authorities clear the scene.

The closed rodway is located north of La Blanca.

Alternate routes are recommended.
