A Brownsville man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to sell prescription medications to people inside Sunrise Mall.

Brownsville police arrested 19-year-old Luis Manuel Eliola on 17 counts of possession of a controlled substance on Saturday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Eliola tried selling the prescription meds to a persona shopping at the mall.

The person told mall security who then spotted Eliola with a backpack.

Brownsville police said Eliola had 17 bottles of prescription medications inside the backpack.

Jail records show that Eliola had the following drugs:

• Buspirone (Anti-Anxiety)
• Bupropion (Anti-Depression)
• Hydrazine (Anti-Anxiety)
• Amphetamine (Stimulant)
• Fluoxetine (Anti-Depression/OCD)
• Paroxetine (Anti-Deperession/Panic Attack)

Police believe that Eliola stole the prescription medications from members of his family. He had no known previous arrests or convictions.

The 19-year-old faced a Brownsville municipal judge on Sunday morning where he was issued $52,000 dollars in bonds.

Eloila remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
