An unnamed San Benito police officer has been suspended for two days without pay, according to a source who spoke under condition of anonymity.

He's accused of tipping off the Garcia brothers about an Internal Affairs Investigation into their alleged beer-run using a company vehicle.

Assistant Chief Arnold Garcia faces a possible demotion -- his brother, Lieutenant Antonio Garcia, faces a punishment ranging from suspension to termination.

Sources close to the investigation said the assistant chief was with his brother in an unmarked vehicle during a beer purchase at a Stripes convenience store in San Benito earlier this summer.

They were both off-duty at the time.

The alcohol was then allegedly transported to a city owned property, according to sources who said several city policies were violated

We're told their punishments are expected in the next few weeks.

Editor's Note:
Action 4 News inadvertently said last week that the assistant chief purchased the beer when surveillance video from the store reportedly shows him with his brother during the purchase. We apologize for the error.
