On Monday, VALLEYCENTRAL.COM is going to have a new look that we think you’re going to really like.

The Rio Grande Valley-based website is going to have a cleaner look with better tools to assist you navigating the site on Monday, August 23rd.

We designed these tools to help you find the content you want more quickly.

To encourage your trying out these tools and exploring the new look, we’re also going to be offering a chance to win one of two $100 gift certificates to the lucky reader who successfully follows the clues we’ll give you at VALLEYCENTRAL.COM.

When you share your impressions with us of the new look by filling out a survey, you’ll automatically be entered to win one of the two $100 gift certificates!

Three areas of VALLEYCENTRAL.COM will show these changes:

1) One is the Home page. Story lists for the various content categories will be easier to scan to aid your search for the news articles that are meaningful for you. We also will be adding a new feature: links to news articles and blogs from other reputable sites on the Web. That’s because we at Valleycentral.com want to be your one-stop source for all the news and information you need, regardless of where the information can be found.

You will also see a row of images at the top of the page that you can scroll through to find your favorite regular features on Valleycentral.com.

Lower on the page you find another tool to see what’s on KGBT-TV. Using this tool, you can either go to our TV schedule or directly to the television show’s website.

2) Another location in the site that will have significant changes we be our Weather page at VALLEYCENTRAL.COM. Forecasts will be bigger, bolder, and links to important weather-related information will be easier to find. We also think you’ll really like the way we will display all our weather images at Valleycentral.com, helping you to find the weather image you desire more efficiently and quickly.  You will be able to upload your weather photos and view photos submitted by your neighbors on our new Weather page.

3) The third area you’ll see a major change at VALLEYCENTRAL.COMis on the News page. It will look very much like the Home page, but more focused on the local content you desire. While you’ll still be able to find important national and world news on Valleycentral.com, as well as from around the Web, the local content you want most will be presented more prominently for you. All this to help you become and remain a well-informed citizen in your community!

There will also be a new community calendar tool that makes it easier for you to find the events you’re interested in on the dates you want to see.

We’re really excited here at VALLEYCENTRAL.COM about our new look, and we hope you will be too.
