An alleged member of the Texas Chicano Brotherhood is facing federal charges. 

McAllen police arrested 20-year-old Jose Celso Astorga on July 17, for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. 

Police caught him at the Movies 6 parking lot in McAllen, where officers say they smelled him smoking pot outside of the theater.

According to police, he was carrying a loaded pistol. 

Astorga had two outstanding warrants at the time, for prior drug charges.

He is now in custody awaiting an appearance in federal court.
