A Louisiana sex offender spent almost two years on the run but is now behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley.
Agents with U.S. Marshals Service arrested 50-year-old Kenneth Kline Jr. on federal failure to registered as a sex offender charges over the weekend.
Court records show that Kline was sentenced to five years probation in a child molestation case in Denham Springs, Louisiana back in October 2007.
Kline registered as a sex offender but then later failed to report prompting a warrant to be issued for his arrest in November 2008.
Authorities found out he moved to Mission in February 2009.
Kline's address in Mission was not immediately available but court records show that he did not register as a sex offender with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Court records show that Kline is being prosecuted under the Adam Walsh Act.
The law requires a convicted sex offender to register and keep the registration current in each jurisdiction where the offender resides or is employed.
Kline remains in custody where he's expected to face a federal judge in McAllen on Monday morning.
