Three men are behind bars after they sold more than 11 pounds of cocaine to an undercover officer at a popular Olmito convenience store.
Undercover officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Narcotics Division arrested the three men on drug charges Monday afternoon.
Court records filed in the case show that undercover officers arranged the purchase of 11.02 pounds of cocaine from drug dealers.
The buy was scheduled to take place in the rear of the Stripes store off FM 1732 and U.S. Expressway 77/83 in Olmito at 2 p.m. Monday.
Officers reported that Alejandro Alvarez-Barrera, Jaime Ivan Cazares-Tovar and Juan Antonio Cervantes-Espericueta showed up in a black 2006 Ford Fusion with Tamaulipas license plates.
The men allegedly delivered the cocaine and officers arrested them.
The case was turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Alvarez-Barrera, Cazares-Tovar and Cervantes-Espericueta appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.
Citizenship and residency information was not immediately available for the three men.
Judge Morgan denied bond for all three of them until a Friday morning hearing.
