HARLINGEN -- The four hundred block of Cora Street was anything but quiet Friday afternoon.
Friends and family watched as 64 year old Frank Villarreal was taken from his family home.
A Family Spokesperson told Action 4 News, “Apparently the Lord has called him.”
Villarreal’s neighbor Lupita Montoya says, “One minute he’s here the next he’s not.”
Joe Flores tells Action 4 News he couldn’t believe it when he got the call about what happened to his neighbor.
Flores says, "My neighbor she's the one that called us and said Frank fell and he died.."
Authorities say that Villarreal slipped, fell, and hit his head as he tried to remove a fallen tree from the roof of his home.
“The wind was pretty hard last night and it just fell right on the middle of his roof,” neighbor Odelia Esparza says, “He thought it was a car that had hit his house last night as loud as it sounded.”
Friends and neighbors describe Villarreal as friendly, one who never met a stranger. In fact he was known as the watch dog, looking out for his neighborhood.
Neighbor Lupita Montoya adds, “He would tell us what was going on if there were any break ins he knew what was going on up and down the street.”
The 64-year-old leaves behind a wife, daughter, two sons and several grandchildren.
