Investigators claim the drive shaft was responsible for the Tuesday morning bus crash that killed two Rio Grande Valley residents.

The drive shaft is a long rod that connects the engine to the rear axle of a vehicle.

Two people died in the fatal bus crash.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers identified the victims as former Weslaco resident Christina Campos and Brownsville resident Efrain Dominguez.

Marcela Cope is the manager for the Posada de las Palmas Apartment complex on Boca Chica Boulevard in Brownsville.

She said Dominguez had lived there with his wife and two children since August 2008.

Cope said she is reaching out to the family to see what help or support they need.

"I'm waiting to see whether I can make contact with Mrs. Dominguez and we can go ahead and give her support," she said.
