Rio Grande Valley residents are lining up outside local Denny's restaurants to get a free Grand Slam breakfast.
The company is offering the free breakfast between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. today.
Joe Trujillo told Action 4 News that he oversees Denny's restaurants in Harlingen, Weslaco and Edinburg.
He said the the restaurant chain is expected to give away 700 to 800 Grand Slams for each location.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, Trujillo said Denny's has given away $1.5 million dollars worth of Grand Slam breakfasts.
The Grand Slam sells for $5.99 and includes two pancakes, two eggs, two pices of bacon and two sausages. The free offer does not include a drink.
Manager Wilber Gonzalez with the Harlingen Denny's said demand has been non-stop at his restaurant all day.
Gonzalez said people are lined up outside the restaurant but the wait isn't that bad -- only 20 to 25 minutes.
"People come in, sit down, eat and then go," Gonzalez said. "We've been doing non-stop cooking."
