The second of four men accused in the carjacking death of a Weslaco teen is behind bars after being caught illegally crossing into the United States.
Border Patrol agents arrested Manuel Enrique Lopez-Garcia in a rural area of Cameron County near the Los Indios International Bridge late Monday.
Authorities reported that Lopez-Garcia was part of a group of five illegal immigrants.
A routine background check revealed that Lopez-Garcia was wanted for the August 2008 murder of 14-year-old Roberto Castro, Jr.
Castro and his family were filling gas outside the Weslaco Wal-Mart when a group of men carjacked them for their Dodge Ram pickup truck.
One of the men shot and killed the boy when he tried to confront them.
Weslaco police arrested 18-year-old suspect Victor Olivares shortly after the incident.
Investigators identified 23-year-old Lopez-Garcia as a native of Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas and the second of four suspects in the case.
Lopez faced a Weslaco Municipal Judge on Tuesday morning where he received $1.01 million dollars in bonds.
Weslaco police said suspects Jose Isaias Zapata-Gonzalez and Jose Antonio Sanchez-Zapata remain at large for their alleged roles in the case.
Both men are believed to have fled to Mexico.
