Hidalgo County Commissioner Sylvia Handy was back in federal court this morning.

Handy has been under house for the past two weeks.

The Hidalgo County commissioner is accused of using "phantom employees" to hire illegal immigrants to work in her home.

Handy appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Dorina Ramos in McAllen on Tuesday to address issues regarding her house arrest.

Judge Ramos is expected to hear testimony from four witnesses.

Prosecutors said in court that Handy obtained a copy of their witness list and send a gift basket to one of them.

Hidalgo County Human Resources Director Esther Cortez  reportedly rejected the gift basket.

Also testifying in court was Handy’s chief administrator at her Hidalgo County Precinct 1 office.

Judge Ramos is expected to hear testimony from two more witnesses after lunch.
