The search continues for a 41-year-old Harlingen woman who suffers from dementia and has been missing for three days.

"We just hope that we can find her," said caretaker and acting family spokeswoman Norma Cordero. "We got in our cars and started looking for her, we called police. We started asking neighbors."

But so far they have not had any luck finding Laura Hernandez.

Cordero and the Hernandez family are now reaching out to businesses near the area where she went missing.

"She'll probably walk into one of these restaurants and ask for food,” she said. “We've left them there our contact number."

The family will put out flyers in the Parkwood Neighborhood area in southeast Harlingen where Hernandez went missing.

They said they hope to find her soon because Hernandez's health depends on it.

"It's very important because she has slight dementia, she gets seizures," she told Action 4 News.

Hernandez has to take medication once a day for her condition and so far she has gone three days without it.

"We’re still looking for her,” Harlingen Police Sergeant John Parrish said.  “We’re concerned for her safety."

Harlingen police said they have received some calls from the public, but so far they have been unable to find her so they are asking for more help.

"We urge people, if they see her or if they believe they see her, to please call us and let us check it out," he said.

Hernandez was last seen wearing a white shirt with brown and yellow flowers, brown pants, and white sneakers.

If anyone sees her Harlingen Police asks to call them immediately at 216-5400, or the Harlingen Crime Stoppers line at 245-TIPS.

The family has also created a personal line for anyone with information regarding Hernandez’s whereabouts, that number is (877) 900-0051.
