It took them decades to go back to school but 27 elderly Reynosa residents graduated from elementary and middle school during a ceremony held earlier this week.
The Hora Cero newspaper reported that the elderly residents returned to school as part of program through Reynosa’s Department of Integrated Families (DIF).
The participants had dropped out of school to work and spent the past few months going to classes.
Participant Silestre Magullan-Prado told he’s 67-years-old and wanted to set an example for his grandchildren.
“The support that the city has given us to prepare ourselves for the day of tomorrow is so good,” Magullan-Prado said in Spanish. “One has to apply themselves as much as they can to tell our grandchildren to continue forward like us.”
