A Brownsville man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to smuggle a woman in the trunk of his car.

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Moises Izaguirre on Monday.

Federal court records show that Izaguiree drove up to the Border Patrol checkpoint in Sarita in a green Ford Taurus on Monday.

During a routine inspection, agents found a woman hiding between the trunk of the car between the rear seat and a speaker box.

The woman was identified as an illegal immigrant for Mexico.

She told Border Patrol agents that Izaguirre was supposed to drive her to Houston.

Border Patrol agents arrested Izaguirre and transferred him to Brownsville where he faces federal human smuggling charges.
