Residual long period swell continues to be directed towards the lower Texas coast as an area of low pressure continues to churn over the north-central Gulf of Mexico.
There remains a high risk of rip current along area beaches on Saturday, May 23, as the higher swells roll towards shore and a moderate risk on Sunday and Monday.
Rip currents will be life threatening to anyone entering the surf.
Beach goers swimming at the beaches of South Padre Island and Boca Chica during this time are urged to do so with caution.
If you must enter the surf, remain in shallow water.
Never swim alone or near the South Padre Island jetty.
And, be sure to heed the advice of the beach patrol.
