HARGILL -- The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department has yet to positively identify a murder victim found just outside Hargill.

The hispanic man was found Tuesday afternoon northeast of Edinburg at the Los Papalotes subdivision.

He was beaten, stabbed and shot several times.

"Typically, what you do in a case like this is we identify him and we do a background investigation to try to figure out who he was last with; we do a timeline," said Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño.

Investigators said the victim has some distinctive tattoos on his shins.

He's described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 190 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.
