The former assistant band director for PSJA Memorial High School has been indicted on child pornography charges.
A Cameron County grand jury indicted Eduardo Mendez on seven counts of possession or promotion of child pornography.
Cameron County District Attorney’s Office investigators arrested the 35-year-old Harlingen man in October after executing a search warrant at his West Madison Street home.
Mendez was allegedly found to be in possession of over 50 images of child pornography and erotica.
If convicted, Mendez faces two years to 10 years in prison for the possession charge and two to 20 years for the promotion charge.
Mendez is expected back in court pending a date for a formal arraignment before a state district judge.
