On Halloweeen, Edcouch-Elsa head football coach and athletic director Joe Solis was suspended by the UIL from both of those positions after failing to prove he didn't break the 8-hours-of-practice-per week rule. On Saturday morning, The Edcouch-Elsa school board met for 24 minutes in executive session, and when they returned to the board room, Superintendent Frank Perez motioned for Solis' immediate termination. The motion passed unanimously, and after 10 successful seasons with the Jackets, Joe Solis is fired and La Maquina Amarilla needs a new head football coach.
