EDCOUCH, TX -- The Rio Grande Valley high school football landscape has been rocked by a ruling against one of its traditional powerhouse teams.
But the question is now, “Will Edcouch-Elsa have to forfeit its 2012 season?”
A parent of one Edcouch-Elsa player brought allegations against the school’s coaching staff to the 32-4A District Executive Committee two weeks ago.
According to the allegations, the Yellowjackets had violated the UIL's 8-hours-per-week practice rule.
The 32-4A District executive committee found Edcouch-Elsa guilty, and as punishment, the DEC ruled the Yellowjackets should forfeit the entire 2012 season.
Edcouch-Elsa ISD will appeal the ruling with the UIL State Executive Committee.
