Harlingen Cardinals football player treated for heat-related symptoms

Paramedics took a Harlingen Cardinals football player to a hospital for evaluation after he complained about cramps and heat-related symptoms.

It all happened during a football practice session at Harlingen High School early Monday afternoon.

Harlingen CISD officials confirmed an ambulance was called to the school.

Paramedics took the Harlingen Cardinals football player to a local hospital for evaluation.

Temperatures pushed just below 100 degrees on Monday afternoon.

School district officials said the team provides plenty of water and sports drinks for players but believe the student had not hydrated properly.
