Video released from a football game Thursday night where a player for PSJA Memorial is seen punching an Edinburg Economedes football player.

Some are calling this violent act by a rival player rough play, others call it unacceptable, but Rio Grande Valley sports officials all agree that in this contact game, sportsmanship should be a priority.

“Football is an aggressive sport. Football is a contact sport. Those things do occur…not just in football but in other sports as well, but it seems like now it's getting more common in football just due to the nature of the sport and the aggressiveness," said Bob Aparicio with Valley Athletic Trainers Association.

PSJA tells us they are taking disciplinary actions against Serrato for punching and kicking Villarreal, but they couldn’t go into details.
