Will arrested Harlingen Cardinals football players play this week?

Action 4 News has been getting calls and emails regarding the five Harlingen High School football players arrested over the weekend.

Many viewers simply want to know if they will be allowed to play in this Friday’s game.

On Saturday, a concerned citizen called 911 at 3:40 in the morning to report suspicious activity at a Harlingen home on the 400 block of Oregon Street.

When police arrived, they found 11 teenagers inside some with alcohol and some with beer.


Eleven people were arrested including four juveniles.

According to the police report, both Daniel Castro, 17, and Darian Reyes, 17,  were in possession of marijuana.

Here a list of teens arrested and their charges:

Nathaniel Webb, 18-years-old, Possession of Alcohol by Minor
Robert Garcia, 17-years-old, Possession of Alcohol by Minor
Ryan Monciviaz, 17-years-old, Possession of Alcohol by Minor
Patrick Ulloa, 17-years-old,  Possession of Alcohol by Minor
Michael Gonzalez, 18-years-old,  Possession of Alcohol by Minor
Darian Reyes, 17-years-old  Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Alcohol by Minor, Possession of Tabacco
Daniel Castro, 17-years-old  Possession of Alcohol by Minor, Possession of Marijuana

Action 4 News has confirmed that Web, Monciviaz, Gonzalez, Castro and Ulloa all play for the Harlingen Cardinal football team.

HARLINGEN C.I.S.D. STATEMENT

"After a thorough review of an incident involing HCISD students at non-school function, appropriate action has been taken.  In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and with this district's strict adherence to student privacy, we cannot discuss specific details about this comprehensive review.  HCISD maintians high expectations for all it's students" said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores.
