A confrontation with Harlingen police ended with two arrests and one of the men being tasered.

Harlingen police arrested 43-year-old Gustavo Basaldua, Jr. and 26-year-old Jose Angel Moreno, Jr. early Friday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that an officer patrolling the 400 block of Iowa Avenue saw the two men in the street.

The officer stopped to talk to both men due to a high number of burglaries in the area.

According to a police report, the officer learned that Basaldua was wanted for eight outstanding tickets and fines.

The officer reported that Basaldua refused to be arrested, fought with him and had to be tasered.

Moreno alleged pulled out the taser probes and helped Basaldua up in an alleged attempt to help him escape.

The officer arrested Basaldua for resisting arrest and filed a hindering apprehension charge against Moreno.

Both men appeared before a Harlingen municipal court judge where Moreno was issued a $2,500 dollar bond.

The judge issued Basaldua a $2,500 dollar bond for resisting arresting and $2,456 in fines for the outstanding tickets.
