A man was taken into custody after he was found hiding over $38,000 inside his car while trying to cross into Mexico.
It happened Gateway Port of Entry in Brownsville on Wednesday.
Kirt Arthur Mowat was at the outbound inspection when officers asked if he had more than $10,000 in cash with him.
After replying “No”, officers inspected his suburban and found $36,520 concealed inside the engine and $1,900 inside a bag in the car.
When interviewed by Homeland Security Investigations, Mowat told agents that the car and the money found inside the car belonged to him.
