Nine illegal immigrants and the person driving the vehicle they were in are locked up.

Mission police pulled the vehicle over in a routine traffice stop near Holland and 495.

Once the officer approached the vehicle, the driver took off running abandoning everyone inside.

The officer started to chase after him, but suddenly noticed people jumping out of the bed of the truck.

He called for backup, and schools in the vicinity were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Officers were able to arrest all nine of the illegal immigrants.

They were four women and five men from Honduras.

According to investigators the women claimed they were 17, but believe they could be younger.

The driver, who is from Mexico, was also caught.

He is being held on a DWI charge. Border Patrol will most likely charge him with human smuggling.
