Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Superintendent Dr. Daniel King is up for a big award.
He is representing Texas in the American Association of School Administrator’s (AASA) National Superintendent of the Year Program.
Dr. King has initiated several reforms including creating early college pathways and “Countdown to Zero”, which encourages drop out students to go back to school.
John Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of Educate Texas said because of his initiatives, Dr. King has been recognized for this honor.
A team of judges will select four finalists for AASA National Superintendent of the Year from among the 49 eligible state Superintendent of the Year nominees.
The four finalists will be interviewed in Washington, D.C. in January.
The 2013 National Superintendent of the Year will be announced and the state Superintendents of the Year will be honored at the National Conference on Education in Los Angeles on February 21.
