Sheriff Lupe Trevino is celebrating a victory after taking the third straight election.

He said the biggest obstacles his department faces is dealing with any bad apples.

"If anything is going to kill us it's internal corruption, because some of our folks can be bought.  So if we fight that, the Mexican drug dealer has nobody to buy and that's how we're keeping that violence south of the river," said Sheriff Trevino.

Sheriff Trevino said he plans to move forward by upgrading the aging communication system.

There are also plans for new Eastside and Westside substations within the next year.

He said he will continue working to make the county a safer place to live.

Robert Caples could not be reached for comment on Election Night.
