Car being towed catches fire in La Feria

Authorities are investigating how a car caught fire while being towed on Expressway 83 in La Feria.

A flat bed tow truck driver was had one car in the bed and another being towed from behind.

The driver was driving from San Benito and headed to Mercedes when looked in the rear view mirror near Rabb Road.

According to the driver, smoke was coming from the car being towed from behind.

The driver pulled over and put space between the car and his tow truck.

The car caught fire but was extinguised by La Feria volunteer fire fighters without injuries.

It's not clear what caused the fire but the incident remains under investigation.
