Authorities in Rio Grande City are investigating a fatal crash.

One man was killed instantly on Tuesday when the vehicle he was driving veered into oncoming traffic along Highway 83 in Rio Grande City.

Investigators on the scene said the man’s truck struck a Honda Pilot and a second SUV in the opposite lane.

The passengers in the two SUVs were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities told Action 4 News 11 bundles of marijuana were discovered inside the truck which had Mexican license plates.

The deceased driver did not have an ID on him, but Rio Grande City Police believe his is from Mexico.
